It has been a while since I visited this site. I have recently moved to Wylie so Lake Lavon is close. Are any and all of the boat ramps open? Any recent reports from the lake? The last time I was at Lavon, I put in at East Park and fished by the main island point and Ticky Creek point (?). From Lavons reputation, maybe I should try crappie fishing more. Thanks.

The last I read Lavonia had the extensions marked but it was launch at your own risk. Collin Park might still be possible but I heard it was launch at your own risk as well.
I can't afford to fix my trailer if I drop it off the end of the ramp so I had to move to Lewisville.

I'll try and get out there next week, at Avalon which I've heard is in the best shape. I might first put on the swim trunks and so some wading/exploring with the feet to make sure the ramp extends well down... would hate to bottom out and get stuck.
But in any case... welcome to Lavon. Its a pretty good lake.... Great for crappie, and pretty decent bass lake. Just need to PRAY FOR RAIN!!! It needs it BAD!..

Sonfish, Welcome to TFF. You'll find a lot of great info in this forum, no matter what you fish for...but I bet you already knew that. Foe, Welcome to the Neighborhood. Was it a local move? Kinda sad to look at the Forum, here, and find more questions about launching than catching ain't it? What do you normally fish for?

Thanks for the info. I moved across town from Garland. I usually fish at Hubbard for whites in the summer, shoot doves in September, bow hunt in Oct-Nov, Duck hunt in Dec-Jan, crappie in Feb-Mar and then start over again. I will try the Avalon ramp and if it is unusable than head over to Hubbard. I have a 16' Monarch deep V which I use as a duck boat as well. How about ducks on Lavon? I understand you can but not many people do. Why?

The ramp at Collin Park is open but should be closed. Paid my $10 to get me and my boys in. Watched a put his trailer off the end of the ramp and yank it back up. I put my straps back on my boat and headed home. They wouldn't even give me my $10 back. I guess I will stick with Hubbard.

I dropped on Saturday at Avalon. I fish a 21 foot Skeeter with a double axle trailer. The rear set of wheels went off the drop, but not the front set. I feel comfortable until the lake is another foot lower. It is launch at your own risk...
