Me, my 11 yr old and my dad went out this morning. Got on water and tried Twin Trees and then onto outside Twin Poles about 7am, nothing cooking. Saw some birds working north of Gravel Pits and pretty much worked that side of the lake the whole morning. Lots of on and off surfacing on the edge of the timber from Gravel Pits to almost Hackberry. Mostly smaller fish, but a few good ones mixed in. Largest boat show I have ever been around, 30 boats at one point. Most the people in fishing rigs were doin the right thing, but some pontooners were Had Trent Barnes ride with me on my boat to better learn the lake - when to fish what at various times of the year. Great guy that puts in the hours on Lake Lewisville and mainly focuses on the whereabouts of the big boys. Learned a lot. The last hour I broke out the fly rod and boated 5, was casting it out and letting my son strip it in - absolute blast! For you strictly lead chunkers, if you want to try something new, get a starter 6wt fly rod outfit at Academy and get after it. Few pics attached, action photos of Tyler's first fish on a fly rod.

Thanks for the informative post danceswithquail.

My wife said I'm addicted to the forum, as I check in every couple hours to see if anyone has posted in on the LL action.

I would like to meet everyone this weekend. I will be out Thurs. Friday, and Saturday. Hopefully the fish cooperate. I am supposed to have some clients Saturday, but not 100% sure. Might have to try some night fishing under the lights. Good post Danceswithquail!!!

I didn't keep a fish count, but the 11yr old math whiz says he caught 24. Forgot to mention that most of his fish came on either a humdinger or a rocket shad spinner bait. I was trying big sassy shads or swim baits trying to pickup a lost hybrid, but no luck. Its amazing on these Playstation set of kids - how quickly they pick up setting the hook, shooting skeet, etc. Hand eye coordination, for some reason, sure seems better than when I was that age...

The Gravel pits are middle of lake (as far as east west) but more towards the dam as far as north/south. This map seems pretty close, although they seem a bit more east than as marked on this map. There are three or four distinct humps. Quite a bit of submerged trees, so chunk your old beat up slabs in that area or Lil Georges you are not attached to.

laugh Many thanks to Steve C. for a great day at LL this Morning... We caught many (100+) sandies in big schools from 8am to 12 noon just out from the dam. Several big Hybrids to boot. wink

Looking forward to next time out!

HB22 and Steve C., good job! After your fishing trip, both of you should have come to rehearsal of the ACB!! If you want to be better BD's, you need to play your horns more! violin
