Can't go wrong with either. It's a matter of personal preference. I have both and fish both.

No matter what I chose, cars, appliances, fishing reels, etc... it usually comes down to parts and maintenance availability. As far as reels are concerned, it's got to be Shimano for me for those reasons and they are upgradeable.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

That one is EASY!!!! Shimano all the way. They cast farther for a fact. My brother has a couple and friends have the abu garcias and I out cast them. The customer service is awesome. I have both the E5 and E7. Great reels for sure.

I would have to say Shimano. Long history of producing a quality product regardless of which model and price. I fished with a guy a few weeks back and his Revo gave him fits all day. It may have been a lemon but the line guide actually quit? The spool would still turn??? Again that's only one reel and I know several people on here swear by them.

Revo SX. Got five of em and fish em hard. In five years I've had one pawl go bad,my fault, not the reel's. They are tough and take little maintenance to keep tip top.

Curado for me, I have and fish both the curado and sx. From now on it will be Curado's.

the curado is a way better reel than the sx.

honestly.... both reels are the same as far as preformance level. they just fit your hand differentrly and have little bitty differeces that are more for personal preferences.

I don't think you can get a more durable reel than a Shimano.
