I was out on the North Bosque river with my five year old son today and my tilt/trim motor failed. Rather than call the trip and head in, I decided to fish with my son for the afternoon (thinking that I had a screwdriver in the storage bay to open the manual release on the hydraulic unit).

When we got to the ramp at sunset, I could not find the screwdriver, and the motor was stuck in the down position. It was getting dark, and I had no way of getting the boat on the trailer and out of the water. My son was tired and ready to go home, and it was getting dark (Flatrock park is remote). So I asked a guy at the ramp if he had a screwdriver. He did not have one, but he loaded his boat, drove to his home closeby to get a screwdriver, and came back. Then, he told me to "keep it" and shook my hand. I was able to get the outboard up manually and get off the water before dark.

There are many reports of bad behavior on the lakes, but this guy was truly a good samaritan.

If you are reading this, thanks for the help! I hope I can return the favor someday.
