Ok i live in Durant about 15 min from texoma, 25 from dennison damn. I have no boat and was wondering since that lake is so big is there even any reason for me to attempt to catch fish from the bank? If so, which would be easier for which seasons....any help would be greatly appreciated i just moved here and am looking for places to fish.

20lbr, we fished @ texoma last weekend. Fri eve. from the bank on the Texas side rite at the dam. Caught a couple small cats. Fished sat w/ a guide and caught some reel nice stripers. This time of year you almost have to have a boat.

Winter and springtime fishing - colder water months - are going to be your best bet for getting stripers from the bank. The shad, and the fish, will come up onto the rocks where the sun warms the water up a little. There may also be a fall topwater bite along the shore. Most of my fishing in the colder months is in less than 10 ft. of water along rocky banks and points, throwing jigs.

Drive the road like you're going to cross the dam from the Texas side but turn left before you get on the dam, go over the hill and turn right into the first ramp area. Park all the way at the back (far west end) and walk the bank west around the ramp cove and start fishing from there on further west. Generally, with winds out of the north washing water onto that shoreline (and shad) the stripers will be right there. Try top waters in the early morning hours first then sassy shad type baits as the water begins cooling down in the fall.

Redfin's right on as for his instructions. He KNOWS there's been good fish right there, but it's pretty hit or miss right there right now. It will get better as the water cools.
