I wouldn't count on trying to swim any baits out into the pass. It's at least extremely dangerous, and may be illegal.

Better have a good rig set up if you plan on going for the big ones. You could probably yak it out there but you'd need to get pass the third sand bar for the big mamas. I'll be there this weekend and plan to fish the 2nd gut.

Went yesterday. No sharks couldnt get the bait out far enough as we could not get ahold of a kayak. But caught trout and reds in between the first and 2nd sand bar

Stayed on Jamaica Beach this past weekend with my cousin Antbankz and fished the second gut. We managed 3 small sharks, a pretty big stingray, trout, and a bunch of catfish. All caught on cut croaker and fresh mullet. Mullet are everywhere pretty shallow if you have a castnet. But you MUST have a good pair of sunglasses to see the schools. We used size 7 and 8 hooks on a steel leader about 1.5 ft above a 4 ounce weight. Tons of seaweed too. Took me about 20 minutes one night to reel it in. Thought it was a big shark at first.

SLP is my favorite place to fish sharks! Where are you fishing down there? I fish by the little cove under the bridge and have never been skunked. Hell I catch em in the cove also. Some chum would help. I never throw away any fish scraps just freeze it then I throw the chumsicle in a mesh bag and toss the bag in the water attached to a rope. Chunk it off the point at the cove. There are so many currents at SLP you will call up all kinds of sharks. If there any wade fisherman in the cove let them know there is chum in the water. You will catch sharks everytime this way. If you want to have real fun do it from a kayak its a blast.

I've never been to SLP. Where is the cove or the bridge at? Are yall on land or in the water fishing for sharks?

Lonestartackle, I live in Pearland also. Maybe we can join up and fish together if you dont mind? I wouldnt mind learning how to fish since im new. I'm thinking about going fishing early saturday morning.
