I have done this every year and have came up short every year. I always see good reports about fishing in the dark hours and not many bad reports about this subject. Is it just me or bad timing? This time I will try something different. I'm going to ask you folks what you do when that sun goes down and your staying on the water for that cool night of fishing at Lake Fork.

Black spinnerbait one with a #5 and one with a #6 gold colorado blade with an Uncle Josh black pork trailer. Berkley 10" Red Shad power worm, one Texas rigged, one carolina rigged. Larew's Hog Craw in Black Neon on Texas rig. LFT CrawTube on Texas rig. There is my aresenal. Even though I don't get to fish like I did during the 90's I did get out last weekend thanks to my bud Craig. I only got to fish for a couple of hours but I did manage a couple of decent fish and one that hit the 10" worm that brought back memories of the old days. I didn't get it to the boat and all I can tell you is that when that fish got through with me and broke me off on 65lb braided line I was all of a sudden wearing a skirt and had lipstick all over my face. I wish I could have seen it but just getting a bite like that made the trip worth while.

If you have a spot you feel confident that holds fish throw the anchor out (on a nice drop off.) I found that helps me fish more effectively. It helps me know exactly where my cast is going, how far, ect.
OR fish around until you get a bite. Waypoint it and drop anchor and fish the area...you'll figure out why you got that bite after a few more cast!
I hope this helps!

I did the anchor thing last year and it was a long long night. 2 fisherman 8 hours and one under. I'm thinking about moving around a bit though.

Move until you get bit, then slip and anchor in. When you find one, there usually is another one close by! Bass like company!

Big black worms or lizards TX rigged or a big black & blue jig. I usually fish 6 ft water with deep water very close by. The bass will travel back and forth throughout the night from deep to shallow. Boat docks are great!

Find ya some lighted docks, there are some in the back of Little Mustang on the left bank when you are coming in past the bridge, tie on a swimbait and a shakey head with a watermelon red rattlesnake, try the swim bait first, if ya cant see the shadows, throw that shakeyhead.

Must have been one helluva fish!

I wish I could have seen it but just getting a bite like that made the trip worth while. Wow, I have caught 45 lbs cats on 30 pound, I am surprised that a fish broke ya off with 65 lb braid. Must have been one helluva fish! I was using my flipping rod and had the drag set all the way and the fish still pulled about 6 feet of line out and got down into some really thick brush. He wraped me up and I spent about 5 minuites trying to work the fish free. He would make a surge and pull out line and start head shaking and I would work him back a little and he would surge and head shake some more. I fianlly put too much pressure on the fish as it took off and the line snapped probably from all the wear and tear of the brush the fish was in and the fact that I hadn't changed the line in a year. That is a lesson that should be remembered always at Fork is to always have your equipment and line in good shape because at Fork you never know when you will get a bite like that. This fish hit in about 16 feet of water off of a shallow ridge offshore. I usually like to fish with the spinnerbait through an area and then if I catch a fish I will run back through the same area flipping. If I am in deeper water I will alternate between the Texas rig and the Carolina rig with the big worm most of the time.
