Just wondering if anybody out there has any good holes they would like to share near Humble/Kingwood area. I just moved into the area and have tried a few park ponds (Eisenhower and Duessen). This time of year it seems pretty hard to hook up in those two. Just wondering if anybody had some better places?

You have Sheldon Reservoir not too far away. As good a chance as any catching a nice LM bass from the docks and the boat ramp on pineland. Really good chance of some good fish if you have a boat.

You also have as good a chance as any at Lake Houston, although I think a boat would probably be preferable here.

I was hoping to try Sheldon before too long. Lake Houston would be very difficult without a boat. I haven't heard of Pineland. Thanks for the replies though. You guys have good look on Sheldon?

I don't usually bass fish but there are a lot that do off of the docks. You can get into the weedlines and lilly pads from several and I've seen people catching a few every time they go out on soft plastic frogs, flukes, or weedless worms.

I was once told that there's a small pond right under the beltway and 59 that's full of bass. I was told not many people bother to stop there because it doesn't look like much of nothing.

I see two that looks good but it doesn't look like there is any parking anywhere close. I will have to go take a look at it though.

The best bass fishing in Humble is honestly the ponds at Walden @ Lake Houston Golf Course. (18th hole was filled with 3lb+ about 4 or 5 years ago when I used to fish there) I'm not sure how accessible that is anymore, but the pond is about 50 yards from a road you can park at.

How did you fish it? I know a lot of golf courses won't let people fish. Did you ever get kicked out of there?

Never man, I was in my teenage years so I'm not sure how much they let kids get away with, but I would throw a plethora of crank baits, mainly minnow cranks, but I'm sure they'd hit a worm or 2.

I may just have to go give it a try until somebody runs me out of there. Thanks for the info.

I drove by that small pond where 59 and the beltway meet. It looked awful bassy, but it wasn't much of a pond. I think you could just about work the whole thing in twenty minutes. That being said, there was a sign saying no trespassing and no trapping ducks (which puzzled me; who traps ducks?). There's a good sized pond north of Townsen before you hit the river. I'm not sure how long it's been there or it's clarity, but it might be worth investigating. You can tell there's been vehicle traffic there, so someone has been fishing it.
