I bought a 1988 yamaha prov 150 motor from someone in west texas, I think in the city of graham but im not totally sure.Anyways I got this motor when I first moved here unaware of the titling laws and everything and didnt get his name or anything. So I have now rebuilt this motor and im ready to go but Need him to reapply for a lost title.I called the tpwd and gave them the serial # and they said that it had been registered. So if your the guy I bought this motor from and your reading this then call me please.

Thanks Marcus

You might want to apply for a bonded title.

The TPWD website tells about it. The basic idea is you have to obtain a bond which protects the TPWD in case the true owner of record surfaces and claims the motor. The bonded title converts to a regular title after a certain period of time.

Did you pick it up at his house? If so and you have an address you can do a reverse search through whitepages.com or anywho.com.

If you have the serial # you can look it up on TPWD's site and see who it is registered to.

LOL.Where do you look up #'s at on the tpwd web site?I looked all over and couldnt find it.I called in last week and gave the woman on the phone the serial # so she could tell me if the engine had been registered in texas and she said it had but would not tell me who it was.She said I had to fill out the proper forms and send them in.

I found out a couple of years ago from a boat left at my shop. Had no idea of owner. Was in local county court house tax office registering a trailer and asked if they could tell me the owner of a boat and motor. Lady said for 5.00 they could. I got serial numbers of of the boat and motor took them to court house tax office. They gave me a print out with name, address and phone # of owner for 5 bucks.
