Don't remember the post, but try PM/emailing Buddahead on here. He might be able to direct you to the right thing. Might contact the folks at Breakaway tackle in CC, might be able to help as well.
Best I can do, hope it helps.

If you search on google, fishing Big Shell Beach and thumb through some of the sites you will find what you are looking for. I can sum it up for you, 4wheel drive trucks, yes plural, because I have seen more than one nice jacked up 4x4 swamped out by the incoming high tide, shovels, lots and lots of water and ice. If going in the summer you will need an easy up of some sort to escape the sun. As far as driving conditions go, it really depends on where the tides are ending up, I have seen times where the dunes are more than 100 yrds from the water, and have seen times where you could not pass the 20 mile marker because the water was all the way up to the dunes. I would recommend checking the high/low tide times, and planning on hitting the beach about 30min to an hour before low tide, this will most likely give you nice hard packed san to drive on and plenty of time to make it 60 miles to the mansfield jetty if you wish. The things to watch out for are; seaweed(sargassum), do not drive on this you will get stuck, debris is all over the beach be observant because a flat tire down there is not fun and more than one and you are done for. Also watch for deep sand, if you do get stuck diving on high tide anywhere you see tire tracks similar to yours follow them, try to find the road most traveled, which is usually pretty noticeable, people call it the high tide road, not always there though. If not wanting to go all the way down, usually able to find pretty good fish anywhere from about the twenty on down, not saying there is not fish before that , there is. It is just that in the area between the 25-35mrk two currents meet bringing in bait and plenty of hungry fish. Also the water gets deeper faster. Good luck hope this helps.

WATCH OUT FOR THE J.T. HOOKSET!!!

Taking equipment to free yourself from the sand is very important. Check out a Titan Exhaust Air Jack (available from Harbor Freight). It inflates using the trucks exhaust and if you get their big one it will lift up to 3 tones and lift 24 inches. This jack along with a couple of 2x6's will allow one person to get himself out. A tow strap is good, I carry 2 spare tires (the red-tide fish kill this last year killed a lot of hardheads that still have the skeletons in the sand - the spines will trash a tire), several inflate tire repair cans, an air pressure can or a small 12 volt air pump) to re-inflate tires, and a shovel. Take a CB radio if you have one (either hand held or truck mounted).

Find more info at www.corpusfishing.com and www.breakawayusa.com

Take lumber, rope, chain, tow straps, shovels, 12 volt air compressor, winch (if you got one) and a boat anchor.

Why lumber? Dig out in front of the tires with the shovel you brought. Lay the lumber down for traction and drive out. You should drill the forward end of the board and place a rope through it. Long enough that it can run back to you tow ball/hitch. As you drive out you will not need to stop to recover your boards. You can drive until you can stop and then put them back into the truck bed.

Your tires will work best in sand at low PSI. So air them down to about 10-15 PSI. You'll need the air compressor to air up once you get back civilization. With low PSI you'll be more susceptible to flats/punctures. So more than one spare tire is advisable.

You can use the winch and boat anchor to get winch out of deep sand. Bury the boat anchor deep in the sand and winch off of it.

the last 3 post are the most informative stuff I've heard
in weeks.
Thanks!

seems like a long run down PINS requires as much prep
as a trip to the floaters.
definately on my to-do list!

Oh yeah, most important...A rod rack. It's a rough drive. The load in your pickup bed will shift. Ice chest will slide around. They will bounce and slide on top of your rods if your rods are laying in the bed.

I mounted an aluminum 6 rod rack to the tool box in my pickup's bed. It's high enough to prevent ice chest and what not from bouncing against the reels. No more broken rods.

also check with current conditions I havent been down in years but I have been to the end a few times in a standard 4x4 Ranger and full zize GMC trucks with no special equipment.
I have also seen it where we were turning around. A few weeks after a hurricane the beach had many cut thrus and was messed up bad.

I want to go too which is why im browsing saltwater again.
Thanks for posts.
Anyone been down lately???

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!
