I found a fairly good utube video showing how to make this thing. I have had a lot of luck using them for all kinds of fish. Great for bass....also caught some decent trout last winter while floating the White. Planning on using them this fall on the Madison. They shimmy like the old flatfish. For an interesting twist try using them on a short leader with a sinking line or sink tip.

Once you get the process down it takes about 5 minutes to make one.

the foam is nothing special. it's how you cut and glue it onto the hook

the young man who invented the wiggle minnow works at the east tennessee fly shop. i met him there back in may. seems everyone in that shop is a master tier. the "old timer" has more fly patterns in the umpqua catalog than any other individual. that young guy makes more money in royalties from the wiggle minnow alone than he does from working in the shop. it is umpqua's #1 selling fly.

That's probably because it works on just about any predatory fish. Anyway....the foam really DOES matter. I have tried punching it out of pool noodles....flip flops, etc....If you want it to work right you are pretty much stuck with buying the premade cylinders. Here are two pretty good sources:

Also another tutorial with a little more detail.
