Friends are still catching bedding fish on Lake Austin. The upper end water temp is still in the low 60's. However, this past Wednesday night a big bass was pulled out by a friend of mine...Lance.Congrats to his PB. 10.74lbs....Plus there was a 9lber caught too, by Waltrops...Awesome fishing guys! http://[censored]/results/ttz-austin-wed-night-72110-2/Thanks to TTZ for putting on the weekly bass tournaments, too!

They're letting out a lot of water from Travis, Travis dropped 4ft last week I heard. The fish are on beds up by the and just down from the high water bridge.
They're can be as much as 20-25 degree temp difference upper to lower end. Word of warning, shallow water the main channel can get below 10ft and lots of grass floating down stream (always plugged my speedo meter)and the water is some what tinted so there can be low vis when releasing, but yes the girls are on beds.

I think what they have is fish cruising the shallows that may be a little territorial to certain areas...I would doubt that these fish are spawning...IMO

I was on Lake Austin this week, Monday morning, at 6:30am, the Quinlan Park boat ramp. The water was 69.5 degrees according to my Eagle tranducer hanging in the water, not in the bilge (which said 72 degrees).
The water these gents are talking about is a couple miles upstream of that towards Lake Travis and Mansfield Dam. I could believe low 60's up there at night and early morning when water's being released from the bottom of Mansfield Dam, way deep.
It gets real shallow up there, with huge rock outcroppings sitting 6 inches below the water surface. Best to take the aluminum jonboat up there at nighttime, just my humble opine.
I've never killed anyone, but I've read several obituaries with great enjoyment.

I can believe it if they are letting a significant amount of water out of Travis. Travis is over 100 ft deep and a lot of rock, so the temps that deep will be much cooler. The water coming out of the gates at the dam is from deep water not surface water. Not sure about bass on beds this time of year though.

I agree they aint no way there are bass still on beds in july dang near August in Tx they might might be in the shallows by beading areas feeding that dont mean they are spawning.
