I have a 18-6 Triton Boat with Lowrance HDS 7 and structure scan on the front, Lowrance X55 and Garmin GPS on the dash. When I start my big motor, the Lowrance HDS unit turns off and restarts, not of the rest of the units are affected. All are on the starting battery.

Talked with several boat owners who have the same problem with the newer HDS and Hummingbird products. Talked with several boat places who don't know what to do.

Anybody out there solved this problem. Thanks. Gene Washer gene@genewasher.com

You are more than likely having a voltage drop when you start the engine. It may be time for a new battery or a bigger one.

Ive been having the same problem. Boat starts, but its not getting enough juice. How old is your battery?

Either a bad battery or your alternator is not charging your current battery. These units will turn off if the voltage drops below a certain point.

Check your battery voltage while running on plane. It should build to around 14 volts if your charging system is working correctly. If significantly lower than that, most likely you have a defective regulator.
