My oldest son and I have not fished together in

several months , I thought he had lost interest so last

nite I tell him how about just you and I go fishing

in the morning since little brother is at a friends. He

thought a minute and said sure. We were on the water at

6:30 at Alvarado our home lake. After a while at my

favorite starting spot with no bites I tell him I think

we may have to fish deep something that neither of us like

we head to the lower end where in five minutes he has

his first one in the boat , a non keeper but a BIG ego

boost for a seventeen year old who has not fished in three

months and again in about forty five minutes he has a 15

incher in the boat, I have not even had a bite yet but I

am so happy that my son is getting bit and catching them,

Oh yeah I am fishing CR and he a Senko, boat in 8 ft of

water and he is throwing toward the bank, now he wants to

go again un the morning before going to church camp on

Monday

Hallelujah!

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

Cant go wrong teaching the kids. My oldest is finally home from college for a short time, and we have already spent a great day on the lake. Of course when he goes back, I will be getting the cell phone pics of the reds ans specks he's catching! As parents, this is one of the best things we can share and pass on to our children........Thanks for sharing the post and I share your pride as the parent of a great son!

You simply can not go wrong with fishing with your kids.I started taking mine when they were very young,5 and 6. I can remember almost every trip like it was yesterday.Yesterday was 20+ years ago.

He did start when he was young , in fact won a Honey Hole Kids Derby when he was 3 got the trophy and when 11 fished the Parks & Wildlife fund raiser at the Ballpark in Arlington where he was the top fund raiser he just lost interest somewhere along the way , I believe its called Baseball but we did go again this morning but was not a good day as we both got skunked but he did say some days are like that and will go back once home from church camp. Hiuis younger brother would rather fish than play the Wii or any other TV games so I am blessed that both are now fishing
