I am trying to decide between the two.
I need an 24v with a 54-60 inch shaft for a bay boat.
Going with an 80 pound thrust.

I just cant tell the difference from reading the specs.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Fortrex is cable driven steering, whereas the Terrova is digital. The Terrova footpedal is going to be more versatile in placement options due to the super-thin cable connecting it to the motor. It is also much thinner than the fortrex pedal. The Terrova also will allow you to upgrade (or get it with it) to the co-pilot (wireless control), auto-pilot (stay on a set heading w/ wind correction), or the I-Pilot (combination of the two, plus GPS, allowing you to follow a set track or utilize the spot-lock to hold on a spot). However, there is also the diff. between digital and mechanical as far as failure rates go (don't know how easy either fails in this particular case though).

As far as price goes: You're looking at 1149-1280 for the Fortrex (depending on 52" or 62" shaft and whether you get the Universal Sonar or not). For the Terrova, you're looking at $1029 for a bare bones 54" TM (no wireless, no Universal sonar) up to $1380 for the 60" with Universal Sonar and the iPilot installed already. Whatever you do, don't get the Terrova with the auto pilot installed, as it's not much more to go ahead and get the iPilot, which is leaps and bounds ahead of the auto-pilot.

No fish is too good for the grease.
