 boat hin number?

I have a 1967 ouachita Jon boat. There is no serial number on hull but I have the number on an old registration card. Since its before The 1972 law does it need to have a serial imprinted on hull. The law states that boats from then on have to have a hin number on boat.

Its Texas titled but I can't find any info abt law. I didn't know if tpwd issued a hin number or of u used your serial number. Or whether u needed either on the boat.

Did not find a number on or around the transom? May require a TPWD inspection. I have seen them put their HIN number on a decal under a seat......

there is no number on boat anywhere but the boat was last registered in 1996 so i would of thought they would have a hin number somewhere on it.
