May you never need this information but if you do, you will be glad you have it!

I don't post here often at all b/c I really never have anything of value to submit. However, after having experienced the nightmare of taking 2 days off from work, driving 2 hundred miles to Rockport for some fishing and R&R with a buddy, and having the boat motor NOT START while sitting on the ramp at 7:30am on a Thursday, I have to tell you about THE GUY to call when there is no obvious solution. Now this probably happens to fishermen all the time and perhaps they are capable mechanics and don't need further assistance, but I exhausted all options available to me and could not pinpoint any definitive cause. My choices were to park the boat and wade with the jellies somewhere or haul the boat to a repair shop and you know what comes after that! My last resort was to go into the office at the marina we were launching from and ask for their recommendation on who to call. I could not have been in a better place for my sad predicament. They gave me John Chandler's number and after talking with him on the phone for five minutes and explaining in novice terms what I was dealing with he gave me sound advice and told me he would be there in 45 minutes. He was not one minute late. His suspicions were correct and right there in the parking lot he (with some assitance from myself) pulled the fuel pump, rigged some reverse polarity wiring, shot a little Power Tune into the pump and freed up the varnished pump and reinstalled it. Took about 45 minutes. On top of that, he would not accept payment to him, but asked that I go into the marina and make out a check for $50 to the nice lady behind the counter. That is not a typo, I said $50!!!!! He refused to leave until we had the boat back in the water and running. The magnitude of my appreciation cannot be conveyed in words. That pump would have been BIG BUCKS to replace and taken Lord only knows how long in a repair shop. If you fish the Rockport area you need this number in your contact list: 361-463-8035. I hope posting his number is not going against better judgment but friends it can save you a whole lotta heartache!

Good Luck and Tight Lines!

You bet it was an awesome day. We got on our way almost like nothing happened, and to boot, without us even asking John volunteered up suggestions on where they were biting and needless to say we followed his advice. Caught a bunch and kept a few! My thanks again to Mr. Chandler.

Thanks, for sharing that information. It is very rare finding people that would go out of their way to help another.

That is a good place to start! John's advice to me was mainly use the boat! It does sit in storage mostly so that's a problem. But John also told us that today's gas with the ethanol was bad for outboards. Most of the problems he is seeing these days is due to the low quality of fuel. At most the fuel should only sit in the tank for two weeks. Guess I'll have to tell the wife I need to do alot more fishing! banana

True that on the few of the good.

I'll say this that good Karma is definitely going towards his way!!! I'm glad to here about a happy and peace of mind to your predicament.

I will always try to lend out a hand to those who are in a bind an when they ask for payment I will tell them to pass on the favor. There's just something about doing good to those who really help and telling them that there's no need for payment.

Man may defy him...but Great and Good is our God!!!
