Got my New Navionics chip from UPS tonight. The nice thing about the gpss of today is you can look like an idiot in your back yard and check these thing out laugh Now, I already had the old version which I loved. I kept it also laugh I already had my waypoints set for the lakes I fish. I wanted the card mainly for Lewisville and Whitney. On my old card Lewisville was just an outline of the lake. I had waypoints marked already for that lake also. These are the lakes I checked out that I fish. If I didnt list it then I didnt check it out laugh

Ray Hubbard- This is my home lake and I know it very well. They did not make this one in HD which has the 1 ft contours. Everything looked the same and my spots are right on money as far as I can tell. They did make all the flats and points a little different in shade which was ok. Now, the only thing I did not like about it was that they changed the Gravel Pits, it has a C shaped levee on the old card which is correct, but the new card did not, just some 40 ft contours and open space. But everything else looked good.

Tawakoni- This one they made in HD with the 1 ft contours. It is very detailed and my spots seem to be right on the money. Wolf Cove is in way better detail. Greenville Pump station and the humps down by the dam are good also. The only real blank spots are the woods in the middle of the lake, but hey, I can understand that would be a problem.

Whitney- This is in HD and what I looked at was pretty good. Now, I dont know that lake as good as others so I cant say how correct every detail is.

Cedar Creek- They changed this one to HD. A lot of detail, some of my waypoints seem off , but I did mark them as I was moving, or not right on top of the humps our the channels.

Trading house Reservoir- This map did not change. All my waypoints looked correct.

Lewisville- Here is the one everybody has been talking about. This map is also in HD. I have a lot of spots marked here also. They seem pretty good. Now, I have some humps that are marked, and I know they are their but the map does not show them. The arms of the creeks are incomplete and so are the timber areas. It is not a bad thing, but if you expect a perfect map then you might be a little disappointed. I will have to take it to Lewisville with me to really get a feel for it. there are spots that the map show that I didnt know where their laugh It is better then just the outline of the lake. Its not that bad.

Texoma- This is also in HD. It is a very big lake and I didnt spend much time on this one. I scrolled down by the island and the detail was very good. That is about it on this one.

Well, that is all I have. I can tell you this, I really dont care about the HD 1 ft contours. Now, I am a sandbass ,hybrid and striper fisherman. I am not a bass guy and dont care about 1 ft difference. To me it just adds a lot of clutter. Now I am use to the old chip so that is what I base my info on. I just need points, creeks, humps and levees. I like just 5 ft contours, but I can get use to it. I will play with it more this weekend. If any of you have any questions I will try to answer them. If you live close and would like to check it out maybe I can arrange that, but I cant go everywhere laugh In my mind, if you have nothing then this chip is great. If you want it for the new lakes listed, I think it is worth the money. If you already have one and you do not need the new lakes then the old chip is perfectly fine in my book. But I still dont like that they took my gravel pit and changed it on Hubbard laugh

Thanks for the report JV. I've read all the negative reports on the chip regarding Lewisville and Ray Roberts. However it sounds like this chip is head and shoulders above any other chips for LL as there aren't any others that I'm aware of. Like you, I primarly fish for sandbass and hybrids so I don't get back in the creeks much. Guess I'll have to go ahead and make the purchase. I wanted to check out the paper maps before I bought the chip but no one seems to have them.

Yeah right bang ,I have to say that this time of year you don't need a GPS just follow the birds. The sandbass and hybrids at LL aren't holding on the humps like they do in the summer.

Hope to see you out there soon Brad.

I remember when I first found out about this four years ago...now I just have my old chip....better buy a boat to go with my old chip and then get a new chip...LOL.

I am sure the feedback, Jeff at Navionics got from the TFF, got Whitney and Lewisville on there.

John

Just want to say thanks for the post and after talking with you, I've learned more about what to expect form these lake mapping cards/data.

Thanks again and let me know if I can ever help you out in anyway.
