I have had a Spiderwire bait cast reel for a long time and it gave up the ghost today, I am looking for an inexpensive replacement for it. Not a cheap reel but an inexpensive one as it will be cheaper to replace than fix.
Thanks

I'll second the H2O line of baitcasters for cheap performance. The Mettle and Menace are the ones I have. The green Menace burner (7.1:1) ratio is being clearanced out until they're gone as far as I can tell for $49. The Mettle is the same price. Some guy was on here selling Citicas a while back for $85 shipped. You might see if he's got any deals going.

I don't think you can get a more durable reel than a Shimano. Pick one in your price range.

Narrow your search down to 2 or 3 models and then get on Ebay. You can really save some money but it does require a little work.

The Spiderwire bait casting reel design to use with braid line and the line guide move back and fort very fast that make line cross like XXX in the spool to avoid line dig deep inside spool when set hook or pulling hard .They don't make reel that way no more so if you use braid line be sure to reel in new line very tight on what ever new reel you buy.

Ill second that.
Shimano has a baitcaster called the Callisto for $49.99 thats quite good for that price. Its not going to be of the quality, durability of say a Chronarch, but youre not going to pay nearly as much as you would for a CHronarch either.

Research the Daiwa Procaster on sale at Tacklewarehouse for $39.99. At least one gentleman who has quite a few high end reels says this reel is very good for its price and fishes like a more expensive reel. Only speaking from a little research I've done on it. No actual experience myself with this reel.
I have a photographic memory...........it never got developed

Revo S. Not exactly cheap at $129. But this is a great reel that will last a life time. This real is high quality, non-complicated, enough drag to pull a truck. You can not go wrong with one of these! And I'm a shimano fan?!
