In the Sommerville white thread there is some discussion concerning catching ghost minnows for bait. I've lived and fished Texas for 50+ years and have never heard of a ghost minnow. Anybody have a picture?

Lake Somerville is thick with them. They are also called glass or pencil minnows in other parts of the state.

A great sandbass bait take a buddie and sciene easy to catch. They die almost instanly but dosent matter. You can even worm them on your hook. cast out off just about any point and fish on the bottom.Certain time of year is better than others I usally wait till I see the fish factory(guys with the surf rods off the lewisville park point catching one after another to know the ghost minnow bite is on)

When can you begin to seine for the ghost minnows from the bank???
I don't trust a catfisherman who doesn't have shad scales on his hands or his reels...period.

They are very cute bait for sure. Neat to see at night when fishing with green lights.

So a couple 5 years ago my brother watched some TV ad and bought one of these (not this brand but exactly the same).
<a href="http://www.how-to-do-it.com/Users/clearcatch/clr_catch-HB.asf>Clear Dip Net</a>
I tried once in salt water and gave it up because all I could catch was dinky little baits no self respecting Red would ever consider. It has been hanging on the wall in my garage for 5 years now. Should I take it to Sommerville this weekend?
I tried to post a link and preview it and it doesn'e look right. Can anyone help?

When can you begin to seine for the ghost minnows from the bank??? Once you have unfolded your seine, have one person at each end, and have confirmed that it is a shallow area an not a 30-40 ft. drop off from the bank. R
Where do they go when they're not there???

I use them night fishing and they can be scooped up when needed with a small net. I remember the first time I used them I was on the Pecos above Amistad when I was 16. We would catch them, hook them and drop them. When the line quit coming out, we would set the hook. It was almost always a white bass versus the 95 foot depth.

How do you get to the Lewisville park point and does it cost anything? Thanks for any directions.

Go into lewisville lake park follow the road all the way to the end and your at the point. It does cost to go in there i think 5 dollars or you can buy a annual pass.
