I received my order of slabs and couldn't wait to get them in the water to try them out. I fished with them Sunday on LL and caught alot of magnum sandies while trying to catch a hybrid. I finally hooked up to what I thought was a hybrid and about half way up my line went limp. I reeled in the rest of the line and saw that two of the barbs on the treble hook had broken off. I was just curios if anyone else has had this problem? Since then I have swapped out all the hooks on the slabs that I have bought. I don't know if this is an isolated incident or what but when the fishing is tough its upsetting to loose a good fish, especially when you find out that the hook gave out on you.

It might have just been a bad hook but I'm still going to change them out from now on, its just a comfort factor in the hooks that I know I can trust.

Never had a problem with the hooks either. I think they are the VMC hooks, which are a top of the line hook. Maybe you just got a weak one.

It might of been a weak hook but it still happened. I have nothing against the slabs themselves, they work great. I'm just going to change the hooks out from now on. I was curious to see if anyone else had this happen to them.

Swamp Donkey that's the first i heard of any hooks braking off. How ever i did have one of my own do it come to think of it but i found out latter that i was cutting the hook a little when i was bending the barbs down also be careful if you are using a pliers to git the fish off of the hook.

I have had the VMC hooks break right at the bend. It is not the first time and if you fish often, it will not be the last. Every so often you just get a bad hook. I have also had quite a few of the VMC break at bend while fishing for sheepshead in Port A.

I have had trouble with VMC hooks in the past. If I had done my research and found that they had VMC hooks I would have replaced them right away. I replaced them with Mustad ultra point trebles. I replace all of might crankbaits with these and have never had a problem with them.

I have had reds and big drum break VMC hooks they are good hooks but sometimes I think the may get them too hot when the solder them and they get brittle at the bends.
