Lake Ivie is a good channel cat lake. I have heard that Stamford holds good blues but I have never really targeted them there.
Albert King seems to know a lot about this area.

I agree with FishHauler... Ivie is as good of a channel cat lake as there is. I spend alot of time on Ivie in the late winter and spring. Hydrilla takes Ivie over during the hotter months, so I spend more time on Lake Coleman and Lake Proctor during this time.

My brother in law was stationed at dyess(phantom) and we used to kill the channels and the blues at the electric plant run off. I don't know if it is still in operation or not but it was great.

if ya can get on the clear fork you can do well in the deeper pockets the little lake in sweetwater out by the scout camp can be good as well
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Well I tried Oak Creek Saturday night, with not much results. Then yesterday we went to J.B Thomas! I was surprised at the amount of 6 inch shad we were able to catch! We got set up and had plenty of action! But when it got dark, the bite disappeared. Highlight of the evening was a BIG OL DRUM! No pics....nothing that good lol
I'm gonna miss her....

Did you fish with cut shad or use them live? We have been catching a lot with nightcrawlers and stinkbait.

We were using them both ways! We had one BIG HIT on a live shad. Are you also fishing JB Thomas?

Yes we go every couple of months or so. I really like stamford lake better as far as catfish go, we have caught some really nice channel and blue cats on jugs there in the areas around the anchor marina.

hey Smoky, I was just curious since you live in sweetwater have you tried lake sweetwater? I see where it has been stocked since 2007 when it filled back up. I would think the fish should be several pounds by now.
