i ordered 500 copper beads from a supplier on ebay. the dang things dont fit my scud hook...? barb is smashed down.

1/32 bead head and a size 14 scud.... this is the first time the beads didnt fit...? the cooper is rubbing off as well. looks to be glass beads....- anyone have a problem like that before? i did notice the holes are smaller than BPS 1/32 beads....

I sat down to tie 50 midges up, for a client, and now i have to drive to BPS and get some more beads.... de

It could be worse. Instead of being a Texas & Oklahoma fishing guide, you could be a Louisiana Shrimp boat Captain.

Well I normally use 1/8 beads for sz 14 hooks...and copper shouldn't rub off glass, in fact, I'm pretty sure you can't elctroplate copper to glass....and sz 14 midges, most people call those scuds

actually, there are midges much larger than a size 14 in some parts of the world. and in lakes it is not uncommon for them to be size 14-24. in the tailwaters and streams, they tend to run from an 18-26. a midge is an insect.

a scud is a macro-invertebrate - a freshwater cousin of the shrimp.

seller said he would refund me, but i can always use extra stuff.... and again, the copper color comes off the bead if you scratch it hard enough. after hitting rocks and sand in the river, im sure it would rub off... i got some new beads from BPS and the hole is smaller on the glass things

Dang Carey, that stinks. I know what you mean about ordering beads. I have got some cruddy beads when I ordered online a couple of times. I just decided to use those beads on flies that don't matter too much...those that get thrown near trees and stumps. If you got them on Ebay, you can leave negative feedback on the color coming off of them like that. I don't buy beads normally from somebody I don't know of, or haven't heard about anymore. The beads don't fit over the hook point right, or something...maybe the bead looks cheap, and is already tarnishing when you get them. I bought a bunch of beads when Gander Mountain was getting rid of their fly tying stuff over the winter. I do need bigger heads for these spinner flies I have been trying to make though. Problem is I don't have a clue as to what size I need per hook size in these jig hooks. If you need tungsten beads, I know of a guy who I bought from, and I liked them. Not sure if they will fit your hooks though. Let me know if you want his name, or handle.

If the TFF would just pony up a good old 'bead forum' NONE of this would ever even have to happen.

Dang bead bro's you so have my sympathy....

Now --

Moving right along - who's doing some casting?

Is anyone here even casting at all?

Dang it it is hot out side in the midday sun.

Unless you are wearing a grass skirt and sleeping in a ditch and eating only road kill, you too are part of 'the problem'.
