South shore has cabins for the whole fam. Bastrop has a great fish population and the kids can have fun catching some nice sized cats and biiig bream. Bass fishing has been good lately on topwaters thrown at schools. Structure fishing lake w/ alot of coves and creeks w/ hardwoods. Most banks are lined with reeds and hydrilla.

the boat will be ok but you probably don't want to light it up for to long...it is a smaller lake..

Don't confuse Lake Bastrop with Bastrop State Park, opposite sides of the road.
You don't have to worry much about stumps. If you are in a stump field (which is really only in the north side coves), then you had already passed through 50 yards of shallow water to get to them.
You can get from one end of the lake to the other in about 2-3 minutes at WOT.
The only skinny water your boat might not fit is the very backs of the timber coves.
Schooling is picking up but I don't usually get in the circus as there are plenty of other places to catch besides the schooling dinks.
Pretty lake. It has 2 campgrounds/launches. South Shore has the better camping.

A good way to catch the schooling fish is to use the Rapala Countdown. It allows you to fish certain depths and keeps your lure there longer.
Like Hookem, I don't concentrate too much on the schools, but if they are near, I have a hard time not throwing a topwater their way.

Southshore is an LCRA park. We take our RV there and love it. It is a very popular lake so you have to book your sites way in advance, particularly if it is for a holiday weekend.

Yesterday the bass were schooling just south of the Main Lake Hump, the cats were real slow, but in 11-20 feet on creek channels.

Try a c-rig fluke along deep grass lines and dropoffs. Try to find hard bottom.
