Well, with the wind on Monday, I took my kids and another family w kids out on the pontoon. 11 folks on board and the plan was not fishing but to go tubing and let kids swim a bit. Left Harbor Bay and hugged 30 back towards where all the boats anchor up and ski/tube etc. About 200 yds short of the buoy along the rip rap saw sand bass exploding everywhere about 2:00 in the afternoon.... banana

Had two poles on board, one with rat-l-trap and one with Moes tail spinner. Made 20 casts, caught 18 fish in about 10 minutes...nice size sandies too. All kids caught 2 fish each then they were ready to swim and tube....all in all nice day and my 14 yr old daughter is in town from Colorado and thinks I am the ultimate fisherman now with 18 fish in 10 minutes! I am sure if we would have went "fishing" only, probably would not have been so lucky since we would have braved the rough water and went south.

just to clarify after I re-read the post. The buoy I am referring to is the hazard buoy all the way west (closer to Dalrock) on the north side of the bridge where that large hump is and the boats hang out. No idea if they will be there today, but there were acres of them busting all over yesterday.

There aren't any fish north of I-30.

I never fish north of I-30. Everyone knows the dam is where all of the big fish hang out.

That is cool to find fish school'n on a boat ride trip! I guess this proves that sandbass don't just school @ 6:30 am, the again @ 7 pm??

Nice Work

Nice report, I have a guy I work with that says he always catches fish over there, maybe I need to go in that direction.

I caught em there several times last year. Mainly in the early summer though. I haven't had any luck there this year though.
