We decided we had best release our schedule for 2011 now and not wait to announce it when we usually do. We worked with the BASS Federation to make it possible to fish the Federation and the WTTT and not miss either of the two. All those wishing to fish with us next year should make their reservations now. I have blocked off all the rooms at these sites for those dates. Just mention you are with the WTTT.

West Texas Team Trail (WTTT) 2011 Schedule
February 20 Amistad
March 6 Ivie
March 27 Hubbard Creek
April 17 Ivie
May 1 Hubbard Creek
June 5 Stamford
June 26 Hubbard Creek 2 Day Championship

Wow!
Let's just beat the s$&@t out of Ivy and Hubbard.
Why not fish PK or Grandbury. Latest reports show those 2 lakes are still putting out decent fish.
Also, no bigger than WTTT is, you could fish a number of lakes like Oak Creek or Sweetwater.

Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.

First off, I guess we will have to move our June tournament on Ivie because I found out that's the radio station tournament that will have around 500 boats on it, instead of our 60 or so. We're thinking we'll have just move that tournament to Stamford.

PK is DEAD with the algae kill. Even the TPWD bioligists agree with me on that after talking to them. Granbury is dead because of all the tournaments that hit that little lake so hard. No way I would make my teams suffer a day on Granbury.

Next, we can't fish Sweetwater because it's too small. We can't fish Oak Creek because of the lack of motels (or none at all on the lake). Both those lakes are great fisheries now though. The Abilene division of the TPWD bioligists and I have discussed those lakes at great detail. They expect a lot of the smaller tournaments to be on those two lakes pretty heavy next year.

If you think it's going to be beat to death by the local WTTT trail, just wait and see how many tournaments are selected to be taken to Ivie and Hubbard Creek next year by other trails or bass clubs. At least we take the absolute best care of the fish in our trail. I think (and hope) that more and more tournaments will see the need to take care of all the fish at the weigh-ins.

That first weekend of March is normally when the Suddenlink Open is on Ivie. I think 160 or so entries in it this past year.

Thanks JR. I think I fished that one a couple of years back. Forgot about it. Glad I booked the rooms at Jerry's for that date. You and I know that Ivie will be one of the hottest destinations next Spring for that fish of a lifetime.

mgid006.... I will get the checkboook out of the safe and give you a sample payout.

Hey wait!!!! JR, you're supposed to be on your honeymoon and in bed!!! What are you doing up and on the computer when you have a beautiful new wife!! smile smile smile smile smile smile smile

Thank you, Ivie and Amistad are great lakes. I will have to work on Hubbard Creek. I have heard it is a tough lake.

Yes, the tournaments are on Sundays. Prefishing day is the Saturday before the tournament. The lake is off limits Sunday night until Saturday morning the week of the tournament.

Here are three examples of the payout at the ramp. We pay out 70% at the ramp and 20% goes to the payout at the championship. This year's first place at the championship should win around $8,000. We pay one place for every five entries. Big bass pays $200 and second big bass wins $100. We also have the expense of paying for a polygraph to 3 teams at each tournament. There is a set payout that is available for anyone to see. It depends on whether we have an even number or odd number of teams as to the total payout. For instance, since we pay one place for every five entries, the winners actually win more with 64 teams than they do with 65 teams, as 65 teams adds another payout placing.

You can see our entire list of rules on our website www.westtexasteamtrail.com

Listed are the first three tournaments of 2010. Ivie, Amistad, Hubbard
1st 1850 1745 1770
2nd 1090 1040 1050
3rd 790 750 760
4th 570 530 540
5th 400 360 370
6th 340 300 310
7th 280 255 260
8th 270 245 250
9th 260 235 240
10th 230 205 210
11th 210 185 190
12th 190 165 170
13th 165 no 13th

Couldnt help it, but it would be best to spend a day on PK instead of listening to TPWD PKs fishing very decent. I like your Schedule but I had to share that. Alot of people are staying away from pk and if they would just go there would be a suprize at the weigh in . But nothin wrong with your choice of lakes. IMO

I had PK on my schedule for 2009 and was sick when the algae hit just one month before our tournament. I love that lake. It used to be the bomb back in the 80's and 90's. We used to go there to fun fish all the time. I loved going after the smallies up by the dam on fire and ice trick worms. Even won the TABC State championship there back around 94 or so. I have some friends that live on the lake and they tell me they're catching some fish. But, the areas holding fish are very limited. I can't imagine throwing over 60 or 70 boats on those limited spots. I can only hope and pray that the lake will come back quick. I was surprised to hear how many of the WTTT teams had never been to PK. It's a really beautiful lake and it hurts to see it get hammered by the algae just when it's recovering each time.

Well I was undecided about fishing your trail again next year, until I saw the 2011 schedule. Seeing the Championship next year is at the end of June, that's almost as bad this year at the end of August! I think I will find a trail that has their championship at a normal time of the year such as September or October when the temps are better.
