Lake Worth is beautiful. I don't understand why it isn't fished. So, who out there can shed some light on this lake? It is fishable? Is there public access? Is there any fish in it? What kind?, etc, etc.

Just curious as I cross over a few times a year and never see anybody out there.

If you cross the lake it does look beautiful but once on it you will discover that it is a toxic waste dump. But that is my opinion and I'm sure others have theirs. With all the great lakes in the area that is why no one fishes it.

it has a great population of fish, because so few fish it. There is a consumption ban on it now. Rumor has it that it will be lifted in the next year. The catfishing is supposed to be very good, and the crappie fishing is too...lots of docks to fish.

It is a great lake to fish, but it has a consumption ban so it's catch and release fishing. If my memory is correct it has been in effect for almost 10yrs. Not much fishing pressure + 10 yrs of catch and release= Great opportunities for us grin I've said it for yrs if the consumption ban stays then this will be one of the best places to catch a trophy, whether it's bass or catfish. It's always had a huge supply of shad. It's not uncommon to get a boat load of 5-10 lb blues with the occasional trophy . The crappie this past yr were the biggest i have caught anywhere. And from what i hear the bass are getting big also

Worth is primarily a shallow stained water lake, years and years ago there was a plane crash that contaminated the lake enough for a consumption ban to be put in place. Like mentioned above they are working on getting that lifted, but even at the peak of the consumption ban you had to eat 1 lb of fish per week for "X" number of weeks for any level of the contaminent to be traceable, not a hazard TRACEABLE.

You have 2 public access areas on the lake, the Casino Beach ramp which is by the bridge that crosses the lake on hwy 199 and the Arrow S ramp which is under the NE corner of the 820 bridge.

Nobody fishes it?? We have been drawing 20-30 boats every wed night since March. Feel free to show me what other workingmans tournament on one of these other "great" lakes in the metromess that has pulled the numbers we have this year.... Grapevine, EM, Joe Pool, Arlington, Benbrook?? NONE of them are drawing the boats consistently that Lake Worth is this year. Its a hidden gem right here in the city, it takes some work to figure out the fish but this lake is LOADED with good bass, GIANT crappie, and tons of sand bass.

It has always been tough lake for me. They did have a Bass Champs tournament out there several yrs ago with good weight brought in to the scales.

Hey fisherman dan, you have to buy a permit for your boat for Worth. The link below has the addy and phone number of the permit office near the bottom of the page. Its $17 for non Ft Worth residents and $12 if you live in Ft Worth. All boat ramps are free, Eagle Mountain is $10 - $15 everytime you launch at Worth you pay the $12 or $17 one time for the entire year!

Heres the link!

I grew up fishing this lake and i have caught nice size fish,i have sat on a dock and caught crappie until we ran out of minnows
And personally i am not much for catfish but i have personally seen monster catfish taken off of the pier under the arrow s bridge
using bluegill as bait. And Lannie and his crew i believe still have the working man's tourney which is a very big crowd.Night fishing is really good for sandies right now we are catching them on roadrunner's and minnows.
