Next time you go send me a pm I would like to get a snapper trip in before season closes how much help do you need?
Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

Fished Sunday out of Freeport, Good running out past the old tenneco platforms(there gone)trolled some, then back towards tall Rock, looked like the ice house at five oclock on a hot summer evening. Folks were catching a few snapper and intermitant waves of kings. Went west in the afternoon, lots of broken grass. By the way it was just myself and one other old guy. Then the dream I had last year and never saw- one hundred and twenty five yards long and seventy five yards wide, the weed bed. Other than bait fish, birds, clear water and current line down one side, chicken D surfaceing in about four different areas, it looked pretty good. The only down side was it was around 1600 hrs. We got out the bait runners and the fun began. Between catching, landing, and washing down the blood, we were able to not have a heat stroke for the next two and a half hours. During this time the big island of grass had turned into a line for as far as the eye could see. Debris and green water on one side and clear blue on the other. When we left it felt like high school days when you had to get home before twelve and the hot girl you had been eyeing all night just walked up to you and asked if you wanted to go make out. You guessed it-we fished for another fortyfive minutes, missed the gas pumps and really did not care. I have been doing this for thirteen years, retired at forty eight and a half and I do live in Oklahoma. Usually try to make at least 20 offshore trips during May through September. The Shamrock is twelve years old and can only be described as a "Hard Core" fishing boat. I usually gather up three other guys in Oklahoma and we put up the cost of the trip, one day down, two days offshore one day back. Now I own the boat, pay the slip, insurance, tackle and up keep on it all and usually drive my truck when we fish. When four of us go it usually costs around $400 each and this covers the food, lodging, bait, fuel and travel. It does not pay for any of the things i mentioned above. I figured it out one time and I could sale my boat and the money I would save would pay for six weeks fishing in mexico and Central america EVERY YEAR. Anyway, when people join us at Freeport it runs around $125 to $150 for their part of the fuel and other costs. One other part-when we get back to the slip, I clean the fish and the fisherman clean the boat (spotless) I'm thinking that if I liked whisky, wild women and gambleing, it would be less expensive. I love the freedom, the salt and doing life my way
