I made it out yesterday afternoon and was blown all over the lake, which meant that I couldn't fish for crappie in the place where I know to find them. So I tried to pick up where I left off with the sandies. I tried slabbing deep extended points and picked up a few, but the wind was just blowing too much to operate the trolling motor and do much productive fishing. Next I tried trolling up and down the dam and we picked up a few on chrome rattletraps. It then got too windy to troll and was getting pretty dangerous by the dam. Then I remembered that at about this time last year after the wind had been blowing consistently for a couple of days that we found them on shallow wind blown points spawning. And that is where we found them yesterday. The magical depth seemed to be between 2 and 3 feet deep. We would anchor up or tie up to a tree if it was available and cast BPS's version of the sassy shad across the point. We would catch one on every cast for about 15 minutes and then they would move out for a little while, then move back in, and then back out, and so on and so on. We lost count somewhere in the mid 70's and quit counting after that. Most of these sandies were 12 inches or better with a few going 15 and 16. I think all day we only caught about 8 small ones, which is a much better ratio then when I was slabbing them up last Wed. I'll be in Houston this weekend watching a golf tournament so I won't be able to make it to the lake. Let me know how you do and I'll report back after my next trip. (Only if I catch fish of course )

Good report...and way to be flexible on where/how you fish.
I had to cancel to get ready to go to Texoma - I forgot I was busy tonight. Good thing I am married or I would never be where I am supposed to be...

send me some info on these "wind blown points" my mother lives right behind the lake and I have been hitting it almost every weekend but have not had much luck. I really like this lake because I get more fish time and alot less drive time to and from the lake. (email txjdog@sbcglobal.net)
Also have noticed severe removal of water (creeks are about 4-6 ft low)
Thanks,

Anybody get out Sunday? I really wanted to go with the great weather, but ended up working my arse off in the yard instead.

Went out Sunday about 5pm. Scouted around for 30 minutes when my engine started acting up on me. Launched from Rocky creek and started having trouble in Benbrook marina cove. Was too frustrated to fish very much, and just wanted to get back to boat ramp. There were lots of boats out and all seemed to be on the spots I fish most often. Did not see them tearing them up, though.

Jimmye's right, I can show you where NOT to fish. There are probably fish on every OTHER point and brushpile.
