Just keep a fabric ruler in youre pocket and then you would know.
I have caught a few fish that I would have thought were 8 plus but in reality were a little over 6. The diffrence between the thickness of a 6 to a 8 is huge. The way the fishes mouth is held mixes it up a little for me but I dont believe that fish to be over 6.5. My oppinion.
Although in a better enviroment that fish might have made a solid 8. Just not there.
But one helll of a catch for stopping off by a pond. Congrats!!

Some of you guys are just funny. Regardless of how much it weighs, it's a nice fish. Congrats on the catch!

Son, that fish can be as big as you want it to be. Congrats on a fine fish. Guessing a fish's weight on a fishing forum will get as many different answers as the number of replies. The bottom line is that if you believe that fish was in the 8 pound class and really want it to be in that class, then it is! No one can prove it otherwise. So enjoy the moment, you earned it!
