I went to grapevine today for the first time in several weeks. I took a friend, his 2 boys and my youngest two. The four kids are between 9 and 12. After a short time at the bubbles with no luck, we went to Murrell. By the time we got there we found the birds, a ton of them. We followed them towards the dam. Birds were all over the place. When they finally went down we went south of Twin Coves. Found more birds and went back to work. Everytime we tried to go to Katie's to leave, we would find more birds, and catch more fish. My friend and I spent more time helping the kids get their fish unhooked than fishing ourselves. We ended the day with 169 sandies and kept 57 that were 12" and up.

That's a great report Robert D. I need to get back out there soon myself.

Taking the kids! Kudos to you! I could catch a fish and feel good, but I can watch a child catch a fish and just get a real charge out of it! The first time my grandson stuck his thumb in a fishes mouth was a moment to remember!

We were out on GV from 1 - 5 and chased the birds around the area east of the island and finished at the bubbles. Caught around 50 fish keeping 26.

Slabs did the best. We used lead babies, RSR glitter shads and TNT's. Caught some on Humdingers, but they were slower than usual. We had a jig tied about 15" above the slabs and Humdingers. We caught quit a few on those as well.

TNT slabs with a pet spoon 30 inches above was the reliable combination. Caught several doubles with this rig. Also caught some on no name slabs and small spinners at dusk in the bubbles.

Was on Grapevine on Saturday from around 7:45 AM to 1:00 PM. Found birds on the humps off Murrell, caught fish. Birds moved to a hump between Murrell and the island, caught fish there. Moved back and forth following the birds between those areas with my buddy and son; we guessed that we caught at least 300 sandies (and one largemouth) between the three of us. Fish caught on jigging spoons and slabs (chartreuse was the best color), most in around 21-22 feet of water. Probably two-thirds of the fish were legal; we kept 40 of the best from around 12 to 15 inches.
