Is there an art to collecting nightcrawlers here in texas? I am from ohio originally and whenever it would rain there you could always go out at night and catch dozens of nightcrawlers in the grass. Here, when it rains, i go out and find nothing. Dont even see a single one....any info, ideas, or suggestions?

Try walmart or academy and look in the fishing department. You also can buy a rabbit wait about month or so and dig under the rabbit cage. Other than that I don't know.

im a painter and often have to clean tools out in the yards ( water based products of course) there are some areas that will produce a lot of worms while watering the lawn . i know the area of midway ( frankfurt and bush) always always makes them come out of the ground in good numbers ! i have never seen them like that in other parts of town . one could easily dozens of good sized worms there (6 inchers and nice and thick ) so if you have a friend in that area go pay him a visit

Get a 5 gallon bucket fill it with soapy water and pour it on your lawn. Works well for me.

At my grandpas place in kingsland right on the water we just mix a little bleach with a couple gallons of water, pour a little hear and there, and they start popping up.

I don't think so but you have to be somewhere with wormy soil. I can't go out in my yard in Weatherford and do the same thing as I do there. If that makes sense.

If the soil stays too dry the worms won't be there. If you keep your lawn watered and the soil is not cracking you will probably have worms in the soil.

Also try the soil close to water (ponds & lakes). I was bank fishing with the boys a few weeks ago and ran out of worms. Got a stick and scraped the ground right next to the pond and worms were everywhere.
