Might want to tap the brakes on your chest pumping a bit. Where were you guys when I was up for days on end tweaking my Katrina forecast algorithms on my TRS 80? Howard Taft and I had to do a lot more with a lot less back in the old days while keeping up with constant unpredictability of the weather. For example here are 2 tracking maps created less than an hour apart by my algorithym back during Katrina.
