Crappie Fishing. I agree with u to an extent on LOP. But on the north end of the lake, Some people go wayyy too fast through those lanes.

I will fish where the fish are eating if they are in a so called boat lane then i will fish it. I would prefer boats not come off plane when they pass, it generally causes less disturbance. Its the idiots in ski, pleasure and wake boats, jet skis that want to get within 50' of you when theres miles of clear lake that piss me off.

I go by on pad if they are fishing the main buoyed lanes. I give em as much room as possible, but if your fishing the lane you should expect boats to do this. Shutting down will get someone run over when its busy on the lake. The boats lanes on Fork are like the interstate, do you slow down from 60 mph to 5 mph when you see a car on the shoulder? I dont.

what is the difference between these boat lanes and the ones on the coast? You dont slow down when you pass someone in the back bay. Maybe a little, but down come off plane. It torQ's me when someone comes off and plows you with a wake and idles thru the spot your fishing ,instead of just running past.
if you dont want to be run past , stay off the boat lane.
If your just off the boat lane there is no reason for the boat to stop. You should yeild to the guy running the lane whether thats the law or not.

My thinking is that if you come off pad your going to wash them away with the wake. I give it the gas and trim up if Im not running full tilt already. Of course I only do this if I can get by safely but I agree if your in the boat lane just be prepared for someone to blast by at 60 or 70. Please dont throw big lead at anyone doing this...it might be me!

I agree 100%. There are several spots where I fish the boat lanes on Fork. If I am anchored, i do it so that I am clearly out of the lane. If on the TM then if I see a boat coming I move out of the way. To me it is the highway concept mentioned above. What do you do if you are standing in the Highway and a car is coming? Do you throw rocks at it because it did not slow down for you. YOU should have got out of the Road (aka Boat Lane) If you see a big guy in a Red Xpress, please do not slow down for me. You will throw a much smaller wake at 60 than you will at 25.

Those boat lanes are only there for a "safe" place to run on a lake with underwater obstructions. So what is the difference on a lake like Amistad or Travis w/ no boat lanes. Do you still blow by next to someone while they are fishing?

I fish a 14' jon boat, so all boats give me one hell of a wake at any speed. On a designated boat lane, you can expect the worst. Some people will slow, but most not. That's just the hazard. What sucks is when you're in a back creek and a weekend wannabe KVD comes up runnin'-n-gunnin' his boat, jacks up your spot, and by the time you finally get adjusted back to a steady-state, they bail out because they didn't get bit in the hasty three casts they made.

I personally would rather them go by on pad, if it is in a safe manner, because it causes less disturbance in my opinion. Fishing the railroad bed in Buck Creek on Roberts, for example, would cause me more grief if people idle by it would be disturbed for long periods all day long.

I fish the edges of the lanes in a couple of spots on Fork and don't expect anyone to slow down for me.

As for as boat lanes and fishing in them i agree completely with this post.

Yes a lot of idle threats and myself , I am not chunking anything at anyone, too much liability in doing that.

I fish the boat lanes at Fork frequently, and don't expect anybody to slow down. I actually have seen boat traffic fire up a topwater bite!!!

Lake o Pines is a different situation to me. There is not much room for error on those. I would never tie to one of the poles in the lane. It is dangerous.I really dont understand why anybody would want to and put up with all that grief. All boat traffic is forced to drive right by you.But I agree if you tie up in a boat lane you have to expect traffic and you lose your get mad rights.

Why would you slow down? You throw a bigger wake if you do. Trim up and hammer down to throw the smallest wake possible.
