Before I knew better from you guys, I bought a couple of the Shimano Compre rods @ BassPro during a sale.

The tip on the first one broke last year right after I got them. I took it right back to BassPro and upgraded to a Falcon...

Well, the other one went today. Hookset on a slot fish @ Fork today. Nothing special - not a T.V. hookset, just your garden variety pull and 'shheeeee POW' - it snapped about six inches down from the tip - right where the tip joins the back bone.

Question is: Do I take it back to Bass Pro, send it to Shimano orr just chaulk it up to tution for a lesson learned? I have no receipt - but they can pull it up by my Rewards account... It's over a year old and I only paid around $100 for it...

What say ye?

Compre has a life time warranty the same as the Crucials and Cumaras. If BPS doesn't replace it contact Shimano.

I did not know this! Thank you so very much!

I'll drop the temple tomorrow and drop it off. They are always very good to me up at BassPro - since it was over a year old, I didn't want to take advantage of their kindness.

I did not know of the lifetime warranty.

Thanks again!

BPS is great about returns. I bet theyll fix you back up with no resistance whatsoever.

I wouldn't take it back to BPS send to shimano and they will send a new one back to you no ?'s ask doesn't matter how old the rod is. I tried to take a BPS Extreme rod and they said it only has a value of $30 and they would credit that towards a new rod what's funny is they exchanged it before at a different BPS(Rancho Cucamonga BPS)but the one in Grapevine wouldn't I even called the BPS in Rancho and they said they would I thought this was the same company guess not. Anyways I won't buy another BPS rod again only Shimano or Gloomis lifetime warranty. Also you can break your compre so it can fit into a smaller box to save $$$ on shipping you don't have to ship it in a tube..... I'll take that bet coyotebass.....

Know better??? If someone bad mouthed the Compre line its because the are fans of another brand. The Compre line is an outstanding line of rods and have never, ever had a problem with any of the Compres I own. And I'm about as rough on equipment as anyone you will ever meet.

Without a doubt....Shimano has the best warranty

I was a lead in the fishing dept at Bass Pro in Garland. Take it back and they will replace it. Lifetime warranty on those rods. As for the guy that only got $30 credit on a BPS rod, they will replace them up to a year old. After that, they depreciate. Bart

Shimano's number 877-577-0600. They'll send you back a brand new rod. All they require is a note enclosed on how it broke. They'll also let you break it into little pieces to save shipping cost. A replacement usually takes about 10 days.
