I'm staying out of this one bolt

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

Jeff Walker of Lucky Dog Guide Service is great and has been guiding there for over 15 years.

JR Howard is now guiding there also. He goes for big fish only and knows how to target big fish.

I'm guiding there also and just spent 3 days there looking around for more "fresh" fish. I've been fishing the lake since the first week it opened.

Just know that before you hire a guide, the numbers of fish are down. But, the quality of the fish is still great!

If you need help with where to stay, shoot me an email or PM.

JR. Grew up in the area before he went to Amistad

He relocated this year b ack home for a new marriage. He knows the lake and is a coast guard certified captain

Hate to say it but he is giving up a lot of money by guiding, and not fishing torunaments, especially after seeing his tourny results on the lake this past year

Tommy Hagler is a guide on Ivie and can do no wrong as far as catching big fish, along with being a great angler and a good ole' boy, look him up and you'll have a great time fishing with him. You can reach Tommy @ 325-668-6989.

I know that Tommy Hagler is one heck of a fisherman and I believe I've heard he is doing some guide trips on Ivie! I am friends with Tommy and once you go fishing with him, you will see why everyone likes him. Just a great guy all around and knows where to catch 'em!

Good Luck!!

I don't know the others mentioned, but you could not ask for more than a day on the water with Tommy Hagler. Great guy, expert angler, and a true gentleman! Your time and money will be well spent with Tommy!

Definately either JR Howard or Guy Adams. They have way more guiding experience on Ivie than most others.

Thanks everyone. I try my absolute best to make sure you have a great and fun day on the lake. If we have a hard day, a half day trip turns into a full day trip at no extra charge.

Guy Adams and I have been really good friends for over 20 years and fished against each other for more years than that. He even caught a 12 last week there. But, how can you say he has more guiding experience on Ivie than most others when he's been fishing there for only the past 3 weeks? Guy has found some big catfish too and can put you on some great line stretching cats!

JR is a great guy and we also have been friends for a long, long time. I told him that if I'm booked up when someone calls, I will send them his way. JR definitely knows the lake as well as most, even though he's been on Amistad! He has a ton of guiding experience.

So, you have several choices on Ivie. All those I mentioned by name are great guides and will give you a great trip.

BCoop,

Give Hag a call, he will get you on the fish. I met him several years ago fishing the TTT and been friends every since. He is a truly great guy and will cater the fishing to your wants/needs.

I'm going to book a trip with him next Spring so he can put me on one of those Ivie double digits.

Well I don't know that there is ANY lake that has the "best" guide. Just about all of us have different abilities, attitudes, and perspectives to guiding. Yes there are some that aren't very good but to say the "best" would be hard.

Look for a guide that fits the style of fishing you are looking for. I have been asked for everything under the sun as far as what folks want from a guide trip and if I can make it happen fine if not I am honest up front about what your expectations should be.

Myself I'm not a guy with the newest boat, fanciest shirt, or a huge list of
sponsors but I do work hard at what I do and try to make the trip the most fun and educational trip possible.

I do truly believe that any of these guys guiding on Ivie right now would do their best to make your trip a memorable one. Just find one that fits what you are looking for that has good references and go with it.
