Just wondering why they are so mean? A guy moved down the street from me recently, and I noticed that his boat stays gone ALOT.I stopped one day and tried to talk fishing with him,he crushed out his smoke and said," I got to go." Guess he wasn't impressed with his first impression of me.I guess he thought I'd come out with a cane pole and a coffee can full of night crawlers to fish with. He's not alone in this world cause a lot of guys that I've encountered have been pretty rude,at least down my way.Not afraid to ask what I know before a Basschamps tourney, but won't offer to let me fish with em.

People are people, some are jerks some aren't, some are only jerks when they are having a bad day some are in a constant state of being a jerk. I don't think Bass Fishing has any more or less jerks than any other sport, but some days it seems like you run into more jerks than normal.

I agree with you guys, there are jerks out there. But the majority of bass fishermen I talk to are courteous to me. I always share tips and receive tips from them. Never had a fisherman especially a bass fisherman being a jerk to me.

All I've talked with have been very nice and helpful to me. In every sport though, your gonna have those who are not. Not just fishing. I guess it's just part of society.

I think you just ran into a jerk. He's probably a jerk when he is driving, at restaurants, and at the office. I love to talk fishing and usually have to restrain myself from talking too much and dominating the conversation if I find someone who wants to shoot the breeze about it.

I won't tell you exactly where I am fishing if I have a tournament coming up on a particular lake, but other than that if you just come up to me and start talking fishing I'll probably give you an ear full.

Know what you mean. I only started fishing seriously a year or so ago. And by seriously I mean taking the rod and real down to the pond or river, jacking around to see what bites. No boat. No fish finder. Just cheap gear and luck. ...I've found when some people find out what a noob you are they don't like wasting their time.

Well I have recently moved down here to Texas. I've been everywhere being in the Corps. Originally from the midwest and I have to be honest here. My early impressions of the Bass fisherman down here is so so. I didn't realize there was so much arrogance in the Bass world. I've run into that alot in my short time here. Maybe I just need to meet more bass fisherman and I will see that there are more good than bad.

True statemant here and I'm not making this up. I have yet to have a fisherman in a Ranger waive back or waive at all out there on the water in Texas. lol!! I don't take any of it personally just an observation.

I would say the majority of tourney fishermen are jerks. Maybe not jerks but they come across as jerks bc of how cocky they are.

That's horrible, those are the people that need talking to. The rest of us are already addicted and will talk at length and do not need to be convinced that fishing rules the world. But the new folks need the help the most. How unfortunate!
