I haven't ever purchased any Berkley 100% fluorocarbon line. I bought some on eBay and just received the spool today. It is 17 lb green and in the original box. The line level is at least 1/2" or so from the top or outer edge of the spool. Most other lines I buy have the line much closer or at the spool's edge. This was a 200 yard spool.

Is this a "full spool"? To me, it appears some line is missing but looks neatly wrapped and not respooled and does have a white line tape on it to prevent unwrapping.

Some of you guys who have bought a lot of this will know if this is a full spool.

probably a full spool since flouro is usually a smaller diameter than mono.

Measure 1 full crank on your reel then count the cranks when you spool it.

The amount of line in one crank at the beginning of your reel spool is no where near the amount of line in one crank near the end of your spool so counting cranks doesn't work. I guess if you measured with a half full reel it would be close but you would have to have a heck of a big reel to hold 200 yards of 17lb line. I would just make note of how much was on the spool and look at one at Wal-Mart, Gander Mtn. Academy, or whatever store you are in next or is close to work/home.

Do you have a academy or some where similar, you could go compare.

I just checked a new spool of Berkley Trilene 17# 100% flouro 200yd that I have and it is only 1/8" from the outer edge of the spool, the spool itself can only hold about a 1/2" of line due to the design so you might want to check this out further.

Thanks Bear9075. I will see what the seller wants to do. It seems like an error has been made in the eBay description for what is a "full spool". I haven't ever purchased any of this line and appreciate your time in checking it out!

Since that stuff is invisible under water why do they make green tint? I have always bought the clear. Just checked out their sight and saw they have green.

It will be taped with a white square if it is new. They are about 1.5" from the top on new spools.

Hi Cameron!

The spool itself is just under 1" deep (including the thickness of the plastic) meaning the maximum depth of line on the spool would be less than 1". So it must not be a new spool. No way the line could be 1.5" from the top! The line is just over 1/2" down into the spool's lip. It does have white tape on the end of the line but that could be easily removed from another spool and put on this spool.

What lb test? The 25lb test will be much more full than the 8lb test...and they use the same spool.

Tell me what lb test you have and I'll pull it off my shelf and take a photo...I can text it to you or email it to you next to a ruler...would save you some trouble.

I have actually seen this in a store and thought the same thing, so I compared it to other spools on the shelves..... what I found was that although the outside diameter of the spools are the same (very outer edge) one spool may be deeper than the other, and would appear to have less line..... as was the case when I was looking at it
