Dead shrimp on the bottom in the surf is best imo. The downside is that you'll need to have a glove handy to cull all the hardheads you be catching as well. If they're around in the second gut you'll get worn out pulling them in.

try a small hook and a small peeled cube of shrimp with a light weight....better yet a small plastic grub bait to maximize time in the water...and like gutcheck said you will catch them.

I caught a mess of them under a popping cork with live shrimp.

Is it legal to use them for shark bait? I've seen many people doing it and I was just wondering.

They aren't listed as a game fish, get all over it.

Clancy W They'll work, but a chunk of bonita, jackfish or spadefish (bloody-species) will usually attract and get hits from sharks before Southern or Gulf Kingfish/Whiting as bait. Good Luck!!
