I have been pretty successful in catching Crappie this year. Most have come on minnows. I know several people who jig fish only but I just can't find the right jig. Any one got any suggestions.

IMO there's not just one perfect or right jig. I have a WIDE assortment of hair & feather jigs as well as plain jigheads for plastic bodies (but then like others I know, I'm a tackle ho) blush But really, different situations often require different shapes/profiles. Just get you a selection of Bobby Garland Baby Shad bodies and a package of 1/8oz minnow head jigs and go to the lake without stopping at the bait shop. Check here for popular color combo's for the lake you frequent. That's how I made the switch and except for about 2-3 weeks in the Spring, I never buy minnows and do pretty fair....usually. But that's just me. Good luck to you.

when i used to have a boat way back then . i always had good luck using walmarts solid white hair jig in the 1/8 ounce size . just tak a pair of scissors or your teeth and trim the tail down to a slim size . thumb

IMHO ,
most important is to feel the jig, match the
jighead weight to your line and depth, ( one size
doesn't fit all applications), a few basic colors,
My favorites over the years. yellow/white,
black/chartruse/ white/ chartruse, and blue/silver.

Presentation is 95% or more. try everthing and
let the fish tell you what they want. dead still.
lift and fall, pitch and swing., etc.

Hivis line lets you see bites you never feel.
Watch your line.

Most of this I have learned on this board.

If an old striper/hybrid fisherman like myself
can catch crappie on jigs , you can too.

To built confidence, you may want to try fishing
your minnow like a jig. Jighead thru the lips
and fish one rod just like it was a jig.
When you get on the fish, just slip a jig on and
start catching.
good luck

Also, put a minner on the jig for a while.
I like to do that when they can't make up their mind which one they want.
Jig for show, minner for dough.

Ditto, well said Mo. That is a great way to start shy of booking a good guide for a days lessons.

Making the transition from minnows to jigs is a lot easier if you are successful catching fish. If you are not on fish, don't matter if you are using jigs, minnows or dynamite.
