I am going to be going to Lake Fork this weekend and plan on doing some night fishing. I am thinking I can buy some salties or catch me some bream during the day and I am hoping that I can bag me a flathead! I have heard that there are some good flatties in Fork, any suggestions on areas I should concentrate on? I have never got me a flattie and would like to catch one. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I tried one night about two weeks ago. Caught bream in a trap and set out stump lines along two creek channels coming into the main lake. I didn't catch any.
Becareful at night. There are a ton of stumps just under the surface once out of the boat lanes. I got a little off track coming back in and banged one pretty good. Scared the shi. out of me!

Only been to Fork once, 10+ for the stumps everywhere. Here's a casualty while running slow "IN" the boat lanes during the day. I can't even think about running around there at night.

Getting around at night is not hard, I bass fish the lake at night alot. I have a chip I bought for my gps that has the boat lanes and I take a spot light. Just go SLOW when you are not sure or out of the boat lane

I have done very well on cats right outside the Lake Fork marina/cafe. As you come out of the marina there is a long dock on your right with a feeder on the end of it. Fish that dock and the trees around it. There are some bruisers there. I fish 2 rods for channels and 4 for big flatties and blues.
The channel cat rods I use cottonseed meal dough bait casted under the feeder. The feeder has range cubes/ cottonseed cubes so you are matching what they are fed and they eat it up pretty fast. Sometimes before it hits the bottom.
For the big cats I cast 1 rod with live perch at the dock 1 off the channel and 2 at the trees. Lost 2 big cats last year well over 30 lbs. 1 was by the trees and the other hit a channel cat i was reeling in from under the feeder. That's when i started casting at the dock
Sorry i didn't see this post before you went

Sweet fish!
I have heard the dangers of this lake outside the boating lanes. From what I gather its not hard to find damage on a good deal of the fishing boats that stay on the lake all season.

ended up just doing a lot of bass fishing, caught some good bass, but I did snag a flattie with my shaky head on his tail. It was about 5 lbs, I thought I was hung, it was strong! That was my first flattie, but it was an accident.

Accident or not, you caught it and it was a first. Thats always a good feeling to catch a fish thats new to you. Grats on that
