 Where to mount the structure scan transducer?

I'm getting ready to purchase the hds8 and the lss-1. I was wondering the best place to mount it. Has anyone had any problems with knocking it off if you mount it directly to the transom?

That's a good question- will be mounting & hooking up mine today. Currently - after reviewing a lot of web pages & the directions that come with it - I intend to use the bracket that came with it - and mount it under the step. To me is the most logical place - anybody else?

I have heard of a lot of folks mounting theirs on their jackplate. I mounted mine on the bottom of the step.
Needs to be mounted where it is aligned with the boat and out of danger of getting hit by anything.

Mine is a HB but I put it on the Jackplate.
