I had a black hull boat when I lived and fished in Florida. Always had a rough time catching fish in the clear shallow lakes, but no problem over deeper structure. When I moved to Texas, it was less of a problem for me due to stained water. But when I sold it and bought a white hull, my catch success sky-rocketed. I was catching fish almost every trip. Say what you will, but I will never own a black hull unless I can have two boats- a white hull for daytime and a black hull for night.

Thisquestion came up while fishing with a guidein Florida. His answer was in keeping a boat looking good and from having a water line is the only bonus of the dark boat. He had three black boats

The Dark hull makes no difference, it is all in your head. I think a quiet trolling motor is the most important thing to worry about.

Blue bottom is where its at.
Seriously though I doubt it makes a difference. I do know that there is nooo way that comes anywhere close to hiding scratches as a white hull. They do look good though

the key is to only fish water that prohibits the fish's ability to get under the boat!

I always go with the dark bottom. Surely, the white shows up more in Texas waters than black... especially fishing offshore. I could be wrong, but it does seem most pros go black bottom.

Thanks for the feedback.
Seems the concensus is: It makes no difference unless water clarity is a factor.
However, the point made that most (if not all) Pros use a dark colored hull for competition makes one wonder.
hmmmm
