Going to spend all next week there at Boy Scout camp, Taking the boat too. Can anybody give a bass fishing report on that lake or maybe some Hybrids as well? Or is every thing dead out there?

If you want to catch any fish, go up the river. It was hit really hard with the algae kill. I sure hated to see that too. That lake was an awesome fishery. It was just back to being great again. So sad to see.

Thanks Hag, unfortunatley the river is many, many miles away from our camp. We are right by Hells Gate.

Guess you never know about those stripers. Some might have survived up by the dam.

I have a friend that lives in that area(Mineral Wells)and fishes it all the time.
He said he was catching 4 pounders with a jig next to a bluff in 20' of water.
I've never been there so.....I couldn't tell you where he was talking about.
He also was catching bass with a Chartrouse spinnerbait in 1 to 10' of water early.

That lake is on my to do list this coming fall.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

We had one of our WTTT tournaments scheduled for there this year. I talked to the local biologist two or three times a week for a month before our scheduled date. He said he hated to say it, but we really needed to move our tournament because of how hard it hit the lake. There are always some fish that survive the algae though. It was taking over 20 pounds to win any tournament there before the algae. I loved that lake,,,, even won the TABC state championship tournament there one year. It used to have some awesome smallmouth up by the dam too.

It sure won't hurt to give it a shot up toward the dam, on the West banks. Those have some great drop offs along the rock walls there.

Pkguy knows exactly where they are. He fishes it a lot and knows those fish frontwards and backwards.

Hmmm...I've seen posts on here a while back saying that bass weren't hit that badly and it was mostly gizzard shad and trash fish.

I have been doing ok in the back of creeks and at night as well. Night fishing is the best way to beat that lakes boat traffic. I have been seeing/catching a lot of carp too. Carp are good for keeping the rods bent.
