Can you legally tow a boat with one of these and is it safe? also is there any weight restrictions. just thinking if water at ramp is low and you just need a few extra inches??

Sounds like the link indicates that you can. I would be cautious, extending the ball further out will increase the amount of downward force on the ball and hitch due to more leverage because of the longer hitch.

Think of it like using a longer wrench to loosen a tight bolt, or a cheater pipe. If you have a light boat then you will probably be fine but if you plan on pulling something with more tongue weight then I would do some reasearch.

I tow my boat with my motorhome with one because the hitch is so far under the bumper. If my memory serves me, I think this reduces the amount of tongue weight that you are supposed to be able to tow. To date, I have used it several times with no problems.

It was designed for use on motorhomes as mentioned above, also helps when backing a trailer while using a front mounted hitch. It does add more leverage and creates problems while towing with a gounge weight over 500lbs. If u need a few more inches then buy it and put it on at the ramp, I don't recomend towing with it unless absolutely necessary
