If that's the case then we as anglers are not blameless in this. Never should a dead or dying fish be left floating after a tourney, there's no excuse. Pick it up out of the water and harvest it. Place it in your weigh in bag and cook it up or give it to someone who wants it. If it doesn't swim away, never ever, just leave it to waste and risk fueling the fire of these wackos.

Another thing, often other anglers frown on the guys who harvest from their tournament catch (even the dead ones) it would be a good idea for TD's to announce that everyone is encouraged (or even required) to harvest from the fish they weigh in especially the fish that have expired or look like they may not make it. If nothing else good comes from this maybe we can learn this lesson.

As a TD, Mike does a good job of encouraging anglers to take the dead fish. After weigh-ins its not uncommon to have a couple of anglers trying to work with the fish that are having problems after being released. One other team and I both noted the number of fish that were having problems after their release.

There were only 3 bass struggling after weigh in. 2 Guys caught them and revived them and turned them loose under the bridge where the water was cooler. So, that is not true about 8 or 9 bass. However, there were a bunch of catfish that had been cleaned and carcusses thrown back in lake.

That's great to hear, I've fished some where the TD's didn't take such care. One in particular where the TD was launching fish directly from the scales into the water never giving anyone a chance to be sure it wasn't a floater. Those are rare, and getting the word out like this is a good thing.

I was the ths the third to last team weighing in. I know what WE saw and witnessed.

I agree never ever leave a fish that is not doing good....I fished Tuesday night at Athens and someone won the pot with a 9.28 lb bass and just threw it back into the lake....i was backing my trailer down the ramp to load up and almost ran over the fish on the ramp, i got out and got into the water to try to help the fish....she was still alive just floating sideways me and my partner and two other fishermen worked on her for about 20 minutes.....we all try our best to do the right thing and it pisses me off when non fisherman cant do what is rightI am fishing this year in the Forney Bass Club with my 10 year old son and i am trying my best to teach him what is right and wrong in the fishing world that we all love..

Well the guys that stayed and went out and revived the fish were the last ones there. You may have seen the fishing struggling but did you see the guys out there after weigh in reviving the fish? They were the last ones there and they said after they revived the 3 fish that there were no more strugling on top of the water.

Maybe for this one ya'll could do a paper tournament. It would really be a wasted effort for them if no fish were brought to the scales.

No one said you didnt see it Heavy Sack,I was there and was not fishing but came to watch weigh inand to help out if needed, there were about four that needed help that were caught deep by a team,i keep a fizzit kit in my truck and boat,so me and a team that still had a boat in the water gathered the fish and I fizzed them and put them in the live welland let them recoupe and took them out to deeper water were they swam off there was only one fish lost and it was harvested. I was the very last person off the water about 11:00pm.

Be sure and order your t-shirts today or tomorrow so they will get to your house in time for the event.

We need it not to be a circus but rather every tournament angler supporting our sport and supporting CABA. Thats it! So, please everyone try and make it out for the event!

My partner Jerry and I have decided to split up for this one and each take our own boats , so I will have my back seat open if anyone is planning on traveling and doesn't want to bring their boat. I can't promise that I'm on real solid fish right now, but I have been putting in alot of work trying to get on some fish. So holler at me if you want to fish it.

Plus I will have fun giving my partner a butt kickin!! LOL
