I have heard mixed reviews on them. I am little cautious to buy them because I heard they are not very durable. Anyone had any problems with them?

I have 3 Black Max combo's, and they have performed great.
I got them while they were on sale. I can't afford the expensive rods and reels. I am thankful because I can afford these and it allows me to fish. Fishing is important.

I have 2 of the rods and love them. Never had any problems and have owned them for a couple of years. I also have a guide buddy that uses them and says he breaks one about every 6 months. He still buys them because they are cheap but says they aren't durable. I don't know if he abuses them or what because I haven't had any issues

If he's a guide he's not gonna abuse his equipment, but he prob does put them through a lot of use. Especially if he has a lot of clients using them as well.

I have 3 of them and they're pretty good for the money. I used to have 4 of them until I learned that if you step on them near the handle they will break.

I have one (lipless crank), and have caught fish on it with no issues. You can tell they're not top of the line, but I don't roll with the high dollar stuff anyway. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. If you're not sure on what type of rod you need, the application specific markings can be helpful. That said, I don't think I've actually thrown a lipless crank on my lipless crank rod.

I have one of their lipless crankbait rods and I like it. Does anyone know who actually makes these rods for Academy?
