God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

Right there, seems to be a problem. It took many years, but I do NOT have confidence in a LAKE or LURE or EQUIPMENT. Of course, I like using proven lures to me, but my confidnce is in MYSELF and HOW TO FIGURE OUT FISH ON THE LAKE WHEN I GET THERE!!!!!
If you can get this CONFIDENE in YOURSELF, it doesn't matter WHAT lake you fish or WHEN, but that you get on the lake. It tok me several years to develop this confidence, but I have proven to myself that it does exist.
How do you get this confidence? Nothing but TOW, good fishing, bad fishing, etc.. I have learned more on BAD fishing trips by thinking outside of the box than on Good fishing trips. When you get confidence in YOURSELF, you NEVER LEAVE HOME W?O IT, it BECOMES you asset that you can use all of the time.
Hope this helps.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

It is ALL about confidence. When I teach people to fish a jig for the first time I always tell them don't worry about what line I use or what rod I use, it's not important. What is important is using what you are comfortable with because that's what gains you confidence. Same can be said with color selection. If you are constantly wondering, gee Is this the right color or second guessing your choice... Well guess what, you have less confidence and I guarantee you will catch fewer fish.
If they show up with a spinning rod, I'm not gonna tell them they have to fish a flippin stick. Once they start to get confidence that they can catch fish on a jig, then we'll work on that part of it. But if I start changing their rod, reel, line etc.... they lose confidence because they start wondering and worrying about that stuff more than what they should be concentrating on and learning.
Have you ever been fishing with someone that is just catching them left and right and your not? You finally break down and ask them okay, can I have one of those worms (or whatever). You tie one on and they are still catching more than you? Then you start to ask more questions, are you letting it sit still? Are you hopping it? What size weight are you using? Who has more confidence in this scenario? Who is catching more fish? After you catch that first one do the rest come easier?

Is it possible that after fishing a lake several times, and not catching quality fish, and seeing huge stringers being weighed in that you loose your confidence in that lake? Got a news flash for you. It ain't the Lake. Beat a man whiles he down!

Now I just tell myself "just wait....your turns comin".....and more often than not it does.
