Weighed 10.3 on a Berkley 14" lip grip digital scale. Was 25 7/8" long but still had a thin belly. 18ft of heavy cover on a C rig. We are also using heavy/large jigs and doing reall well on large fish. Lot of heavy traffic all over the lake, so once the big bite comes, I usually just suck it up and move to the next spot.. 9 out of 10 times (right now) the next bite on the same spot will be 4lbs or less lbs.. That is ok for 20lb sacks but IMO, if you want 30 plus lbs, you need a good milk run..

At night the fish are a bit more shallow. I would try between 6-14 ft. I don't get touched deeper than that. They may be deeper, just not where I have been fishing. The numbers are not great, but you can hit some good fish. We have been getting some good fish in 4ft over brush or lights in the water. I have been using either a black/redflake sweet beaver or a 12 inch worm in dark colors. If you have brush in 6-14 ft or even less I would try there. I have been thinking of throwing a black swim bait over the shallow brush, but have not tried it yet. Hope you have good luck. You will be happy about the conditions you are fishing in as opposed to the day. Cooler and quieter.

Got blanked last night. Only fished 10-12:30 but no bites. Surprising because two weeks ago those areas produced. But that is Conroe, those fish never stay put.

Fished this morning, caught one on a spinner and had 2 break offs on a carolina rig in 10'of water. Slow day for sure, the pleasure boaters were on the water at 8am thats a first! Light winds but bumpy as hell, water temps were in the 90s.

Rains today should cool the lake a little. May find a few off the many drainage pipes going into the water. Of course you may get a cat too.

Love night/pre-dawn fishing as long as the mosquitos aren't too bad.
