Just FYI guys. That part of the river is always stained and muddy. It never gets very clear like some other rivers. The soil up river keeps it that way. But don't let the color of the water fool you. They're biting!

If I can find it, I've got a poloroid of (3)3lbers we caught one day 2 years ago down there. All 3 were over 18 inches and no they weren't hybrids!

I'm learning to fish muddy water but it sure goes against what that little voice in my head keeps telling me wink

Went there this morning. I fished right under the 164 bridge and caught several. Saw other people crossing the fences and walking through the fields in the direction of the lake. Is that legal? Just want to know before i go do it.

Don't think that it's legal, but people have been doing it for years. I've come accross people as much as a mile in either direction from that bridge when fishing out of a boat. I've never heard of any one getting in trouble for it, but it's still technically trespassing. I know that doesn't help much, but good luck.

I went saturday with some friends. We fished at the 164 bridge, and then we walked south on down the river, through the fence;). Caught several with many being females. Used roadrunners and rattletraps. Bite seemed to stop at 10am as usual and then pick up again after lunch. Im pretty sure its trespassing, but I try to be respective of their property and pick up trash and whatnot. I think as long as u dont cut their fences or mess with their livestock there should be no problem. People out there seem to be nice. In fact when the run gets good, it seems like the whole town of Groesbeck is out there:). Plan on going back again later this week, weather permitting.

New report here guys! My friend Kevin, who apparently has no job, was able to go fishing today. He has a coworker(again, I don't know when they work) that has walk in access to the Navasota between 164 and the lake. He says they caught over 100 sandies between them , and they cleaned 11 slab crappie! They didn't clean any of the sandies, but he said a lot of them looked to be full of eggs. Many more big females than a week or 10 days ago.

Thanks

I went friday with my girlfriend. We brought home 27. Got there at noon and it was real slow until around 3. We then caught quite a few til around 430 and then we left. It was fun. She has never really been fishing and I'm glad she was able to catch a few. Used redhead with white body roadrunners. People who were there all day did have stringers.

Hey guys, new here. Dad owns some land off Turkey Creek which feeds into the Navasota just north of the lake. 3 years ago, I saw the sandies so thick in Turkey creek the buzzards were roosting where it got too shallow and scooping them out of the water.

I usually catch them in late March/Early April..

Any fish showing up at the Ft Parker Dam yet? Years ago, I fished this area and have done well there on 2 1/2 in Sassy shad.
